I bought my 10 year old nephew a pocket knife for his birthday and wanted to give him a sharpening stone. I've heard about this sharpener from other enthusiasts and thought it would be great for teaching them proper technique. When I saw a set of two knives I decided to try one of them myself. I have owned knives for 40 years and have used many different whetstones and systems. Considering the price I paid, the simplicity and full feature set, and its size, this is the absolute best all round sharpener I have ever used. It trained my nephew very effectively and he was able to use it without any problems and already puts a razor blade on his Opinel. Haven't used it on any of my really hard steels yet, but it makes a razor edge on my 440 with just a few strokes over a thin blade. the diamond stone, a few taps on the ceramic and the bracelet will quickly restore it even after intensive use. With my lighter knives I only need a belt. (The compartment under the diamond is great for storing spare sling mix.) It's compact enough that I can store it anywhere or even take it with me if I want, saving me the time getting my kit. If you're just learning how to sharpen, this is a great way to get used to holding your knife properly. If you're an experienced sharpener, you'll appreciate the simplicity and overall design, and you'll have your blade ready anyway.
