Review on Hanson 6527 Die 18 Extractor by Jordan Weakland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Economical choice for mild steel

Do not buy this one if you plan to rethread stainless steel. Get another one. Check with 9427. I have both 9427 and 6527. Both have a Hanson stamp The die itself does not have an Irwin stamp If you take them both out and take them out of your pocket and now you don't know which is which, my 9427 had "NC" after " 5/16 -18" and 6527 doesn't. Also, they look the same. 9427 comes in nice packaging, 6527 just in a plastic bag. The price of 9427 is more than twice the price! Does the packaging justify the double price - when it comes to that To get the job done The cheap one was blunted after threading less than 1/4" high grade stainless steel Worn now. Still works great on mild steel but is a bit dull on clean stainless steel threads. Around a portion of the thread in stainless steel or to clean stainless steel, get a cheap one to save money. If you need to cut new mild steel thread, again go cheap. If you need to cut a lot of new threads, or more importantly you need to cut new stainless steel threads, make sure you buy an expensive one or you will regret it. And don't forget the cutting oil.
