Like many others, I chose these bowls on the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen. They're the ideal weight, have just enough edges to be easy to hold without interfering with pouring, and are strong. I admit that there are many other shells that have the exact same specs, some of them may cost less money, some more. After ordering I saw some of these at a local specialty store where I was able to pick the exact size I wanted. I regularly cook for a large group so the largest bowl isn't as big as I need - luckily I had one from my previous set which I just kept. I want to laugh at some of the other "scratch" reviews - what the heck? Expecting your stainless steel mixing bowls to keep their pristine shine forever? I bought them to use, not to display. My old ones still worked very well, stupidly and all. If you only care about looks, maybe you should order takeaway :)
