Review on Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS Digital Camera: 7.1 MP with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom by Patrick Ceo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

For an amateur, one of the best cameras I've had!

I bought this camera in July 2008 and took excellent pictures with it. Unfortunately, it started to fail 5 years later. I could blame my little ones for dropping it from time to time, but to be honest it was mostly me - the dropper. Anyway, I've taken very good pictures of my kids and various places around the world (it travels well) and while it's a bulky camera, it's not that difficult to fit in my purse (I carry though large pockets). ). ).I'm a mom of three with a camera in the kitchen ready to capture those amazing moments digitally to share on Facebook or Instagram. So for what I paid 5 years ago ($179) it was a great price! Today I am considering buying a new camera. I even considered switching brands when Kodak exits the digital camera market, but it's no surprise that after days of reading reviews and comparing specs, I decided to stick with Kodak and got the Kodak EasyShare Z5010 digital camera to buy. The only downside I found when purchasing the Z712 IS was the battery life using rechargeable AA batteries. It wasn't until a year later that I realized (don't ask) that to get the most out of my battery life I needed to buy a lithium-ion battery. Well it paid off. The battery lasts for weeks when not in use and I've shot up to 200 shots a day without draining even half the battery. bliss! Unfortunately, and hence 4 stars, the camera couldn't keep up after my kids grew up and started moving. In fact, it's pretty slow. Strange that I've just decided to post a review of a camera that's pretty much complete, but I figured I owed it positive feedback after all these years of faithful service.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • To old
