I recently bought two old Windows 7 laptops. I was able to upgrade them to Windows 10 for free and they both work fine with the newer OS. They work well enough that I've used them for all of your usual tasks: online banking, bill paying, video streaming, some light gaming, and even video editing and transcoding. When I started working with video, I found that both machines really needed more memory. One of them already had an 8GB Micron RAM stick and I was hoping to get both laptops up to 16GB. HP could use 16GB on HP but Dell said my other computer was limited to 8GB. This machine was originally purchased and used in the state of California and came with a Core i7 processor, Windows 7 Pro and a range of business/enterprise options, so I found it odd that Dell would claim the motherboard was maxed out. 8GB of RAM. Both machines were built less than a year apart, and HP was a lower mid-range consumer machine, but it managed to occupy 16GB. A little internet research revealed that many other people have successfully upgraded Dell to 16GB. So between orders I got four identical sticks of this Micron RAM for a great price (much less than online sellers usually charge) and they all work great in my laptops. So if you are looking for RAM for some older laptops that can use this type of memory, this Micron 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 RAM is a really good buy!
