They are really small. Too small for freezing most meats and vegetables. Well to be fair if you are looking for a bag for a mix, dried spices, 4-6 oz chunk of cheese or similar this would be great. But they just don't work for me. You need room on both sides to allow air to escape when sealing the food. If you put food in it, she won't let you. So yes, a pound of ground beef will do, but you won't get good airtight packaging. It will seal but there will be air bubbles which defeats the purpose of using a sealing machine. So 6 inch is not the best option for meat, try a larger size. The 6 inch hole is so small that it is difficult to fill cleanly. I suggest a can hopper to make this easier.
