Review on πŸ”Œ Camco RV 30-Amp Power Defender Voltage Protector with Integrated Surge Protection: Safeguarding Your RV & Appliances from Voltage Fluctuations and Power Surges (55301) by Tay Fair

Cannot withstand rain and fails.

The product is working properly. So far the price-performance ratio is good. I used a more expensive surge protector until it stopped working after just three years. At Camco, there is always good or bad with their products. I used this voltage fuse on my current RV trip. The surge protector worked with no issues and I've stopped at Good Sam rated RV parks. The indicator lights are small and difficult to see during the day. They are very bright at night. It is important to keep the product card with the camper. There is a table on the back of the device that is difficult to access when the device is connected to the mount. The bright yellow color screams I'm here. It can be protected by locking the output box. Important questions I have. "Will this surge protector detect a voltage problem and be a long lasting product?" I originally gave this product 3 stars. After using it on 3 car trips I downgraded my opinion on this product. Power Defender does not protect against rain. A few thunderstorms caused water to enter the component. A small amount of rain residue on the component caused a short in the electrical wiring. This gives false indications of tension problems and chatter. This renders the product unusable. At home I opened the device to determine the problem and find a solution. Two weeks after the storm, I found corrosion and a thin layer of water on most electrical surfaces. Camco uses silicone to seal the back cover. However, they left out a significant portion of the top of the device. I will not invest in this expensive surge protector again. I'll try this buggy one more time and turn it off when it rains. Assuming it works after drying in the sun. The bottom line is, don't buy this product until the price drops $100. I originally gave this product three stars. I have traveled in a van with a Camco Power Defender three times. On my last ride I found that this product is not rainproof. Water could penetrate the component and short out the wiring. Apparently, even a small amount of water will cause the defender to misinterpret the tension and indicate a nonexistent problem.
