Review on Upgrade Your Gaming Experience with SteelSeries Arctis 5 - RGB Headset for PC and PlayStation 4 - White [2019 Edition] by Keisuke Shimizu ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The item is ok but not fully compliant with the description.

A headset with a strange set of advantages and disadvantages. The sound for games (and positioning) is decent, but when listening to music, even a non-music lover will hear problems with the frequency range that the weak equalizer in the proprietary SSE3 software does not save. The manufacturer's application itself at first glance seems to be huge in terms of the number of settings, but in reality they are not enough for a headset that aims at the medium-high price segment (a simple equalizer, presets are limited and you can't save your own). Soundproofing also raises questions. When wearing this headset, there is a feeling of "sitting in a barrel" due to the excessive isolation of the user from the surrounding sounds (including from his own voice, which is unacceptable for the headset), but at the same time, the sound leakage to the outside even at 25% of the volume is such that all around will know that you are listening. On the plus side, there is an excellent noise-canceling microphone that effectively cancels out all background noise, leaving your voice crystal clear. The ear cushions are excellent, fit snugly, do not press on the ears, the material is very soft and pleasant to the touch. The size of the cup (both diameter and depth) is sufficient to fit even very large ears inside. The headband feels odd at first with no adjustment other than a fabric band, but for most heads this should be enough. One of the features that I bought into when choosing was the ChatMix regulator, but when using it, it became clear that Steelseries had cheated with it. The handle rotates very easily, the remote itself lies rather poorly on the table and easily shifts when the wire moves. It would also be nice to put on it those buttons and adjustments that for some reason were placed on the left cup of the headset. The controls on the left ear cup are simply non-existent. The volume wheel is weak, in my opinion, it is unlikely to live long with constant use, moreover, it is located exactly under the fingers of your left hand, with which you will take the headset when putting it on. The microphone mute button is simply inconvenient due to the deep fit in the case.

Pros
  • - large cup size - ear pads - microphone - headband
Cons
  • - soundproofing - sound quality - ChatMix controller - included software - easily soiled matte plastic - lack of headband adjustment range
