I've seen a few videos on YouTube that say you can use a self-healing mat in die-cutting machines instead of a clear acrylic sheet. Acrylic will warp over time, but a self-healing mat will last much longer. I tested the clear self-healing mat and I am 1000% thrilled! I use it in my original Gemini electric punch and it works great! The best part is that it left almost no dents on my cutting mat. I also use it with my Xacto knife for other crafts so it has many functions. The mat is not 100% transparent, a bit "cloudy" - i.e. translucent, but you can still see through it. Don't be fooled by the cheaper self-healing mats offered at Revain. I have bought several and the quality does not come close to the Vantage Self Healing Mats! The other mats I bought were so thin that 2 of them equaled a Vantage mat! Be careful - with enough pressure you *CAN* deform this self-healing mat. I couldn't get the embossing folder to work properly and added too many spacers. It was too thick and when I ran it through the Gemini I heard the most horrible sound (more than "normal") and deformed my self-healing mat forever! Having broken 2 self-healing mats, I am very careful with the amount of pads I use with my Gemini machine.
