Review on Yescom Ultra Thin Incandescent Equivalent Downlight by Edgardo Ennis

I bought a pack of 10 of these lamps because regular tin lamps would interfere with some wood structures in my attic and moving the lamps around to avoid this would result in an imperfect arrangement. The power supply needs some improvement. I seriously doubt it will pass UL testing. I took each apart and soldered an extension to the outgoing low voltage wire so I could pack 4 power supplies into a metal junction box. Just in case that dubious device catches fire. There is only a small board in the plastic box which is not attached at all and the plastic is very thin (barely UL 94V0 rated for flame containment). The line voltage wires coming out of the power supply are very small (possibly #22 AWG) and not suitable for connection with nuts. In my junction box I soldered 4 wires together with another larger wire and connected that wire to the #14 AWG wire I connected the loft light to. The light itself is great. The heat generated by the LEDs is transferred to the aluminum ring and can be dissipated from the ceiling of the lit room, so hiding it in insulation seems thermally ok. However, there is no gasket on the flange, so I would expect a ring of dirt to form around the attachment over time as attic air seeps through the seam. I'll probably put some sealant on when I install them on the ceiling. Note. When connected to a dimmer sold as compatible with dimmable LEDs, the lights will flicker excessively. I'm assuming the power supply is not dimmable.
