When I moved into my new condo, it didn't really have a working doorbell, or at least I thought it didn't. There was a sort of black button where the doorbell button should be but it didn't do anything other than fall off. I looked at the name and it and after checking it out on line, learned that it was needing an adapter or hub to make it work. So it's just a plug in unit and the directions to pairing and customizing it was not hard at all. You have lots of choices of possible ring tones and also options for loudness. I put the doorbell button outside with sturdy double stick tape and when I plugged in the hub, it worked great. I love it!
