Review on πŸ”€ CABLEDECONN 8K DisplayPort Switch Bi-Directional Converter for Multiple Sources and Displays, supporting 8K@30Hz and 4K@120Hz. by Brett Jarvis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I can not believe that! It works! 3440x1440 120Hz!

UPDATE: 05/16/21 I've been using this device for almost 3 months now and can no longer fully recommend it with a 5-star rating. Don't get me wrong, it still does its job, but every once in a while I'll run into image dropouts where the monitor doesn't turn off completely but the image flickers for less than a second. I don't swap it out too often, but enough to question the capabilities of this device. All this while using very short Displayport 1.4 cables when trying to run my panel at a native resolution of 3440 x 1440 at 120Hz. The problem showed up from the start, but was so sporadic that I just didn't give it much importance and hoped it would just go away. --- Original Review --- I used my monitors to work from home and graphics cards are now (February 2021) rarer and more expensive than gold unicorns. I was bothered by the constant plugging and unplugging of cables to switch between my gaming rig and work laptop. This solution seemed cheap because it was promised and some reviews mentioned issues with GSync monitors. I decided to give it a try and I'm happy to report that it works great for what I intend to use it for, sharing a monitor between two computers. I'm not running 4k, but my monitor's native resolution is 3440 x 1440 @ 120Hz. I've only tested it with Doom Eternal and NIER Automata and GSync worked flawlessly. I would recommend buying 2 or 3 short 1.4 Displayport cables to maintain signal integrity, although I currently run my gaming rig with 2 10ft Displayport 1.4 cables, one from the monitor to the switch and the other from the Switch to my PC. The switch should amplify the signal, if I may assume so. The switch is small and housed in a robust aluminum housing. It doesn't heat up. With power cord but no plug. Using an old 5V iPhone charger I had. All in all very recommendable. If I run into any issues I will come back and edit the review if necessary.
