They're bigger than I expected! They are made of mottled gray fibers that smell slightly like wool. The wool appears smooth and evenly wrapped around the ball. They have a natural, slightly irregular shape. They are firm but give slightly when compressed. In the dryer they make a gentle "knock-knock" noise. This seems to reduce static electricity. I'm not sure if my clothes are softer and I think the drying time is a bit shorter (my dryer automatically adjusts the time and I'm rarely around when it finishes). However, they are easy to use and require no extra effort other than picking them out of the finished laundry (they like to hide in sleeves and pant legs). The storage bag is cool and comes with instructions.
