Review on πŸš— Metra 99-7524B Mazda 6 Double and ISO DIN Radio Install Kit (2006-2008): Enhance Your In-Car Entertainment Setup by Wayne Moody

Revainrating 2 out of 5

1 star? .or 5? The fight is real.

I wasn't sure if I should give it 1 or 5 stars. I hate the fact that I need it and I despise the fact that it costs almost TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS for a couple of mechanical grade plastic parts and a couple of wires and some extremely simple circuit boards. This is what happens when a company has ZERO competition. But it could also be 5 stars because it would be physically impossible to install an aftermarket head unit without it. Well, here's what I found uncomfortable about this kit. - blown up. Relax. Really happy at this moment. I will contact Metra and see if they can send me a new bulb. You should legally drill a drill into your dash because I guarantee you won't have the holes you need right now to install your stereo. And don't be fooled, if you can't get them exactly where you want them on the first try, it's incredibly unlikely you'll be able to make a second try. Speaking of mounting, those brackets that hold the stereo in place? You guessed it, plastic. That's right, the only thing that separates your new head unit from the shakes is the thinner plastic. Because the metal is too expensive I think. They didn't even bother to turn on their ASWC-1 suspension that allows you to retain steering control, even though EVERY CAR THAT EVER ENTERS IN THIS POSSIBLE HAS STEERING CONTROLS! .*sigh*. Instead, the extremely unhelpful manual talks succinctly about having to buy it separately and tries to pretend that for some reason most people do NOT need it. For example, "Yeah, it's great that half the buttons on my steering wheel don't work, and I really like having random wires dangling in my dash and I have nothing to do, so thanks guys!" No, it is definitely 1 star now that I think about it. But you should probably get it anyway because you really don't have a choice. PSIdk, why are there so many reviews like "It doesn't fit! It stands out, durrrr." Seriously, not that hard, just press until it clicks. Mine fits like stock. Seems to be the only thing this set got right.
