I like them because the collar is high enough. I can put one in a right sized hole, cut into a large diameter exhaust pipe or a small one and still have the radius of the curve filled with the collar. This gives me a nice, tight fit with no gaps to weld. On the MIG, this is quick and easy if, at a slightly faster wire speed, I do the first pass around the tube a little cold, which penetrates the thinner tube without burning through it, and then run back over that bead at a hotter setting and at a slower one speed, the wire penetrates the thick metal of the collar. Another plus is that the collar is thick enough that I didn't have any issues with the threads puckering from the heat.
