I learned how to embroider with a needle using Utube and found that many experts use this type of embroidery hoop. It's reversible so it can be placed on your lap so you don't have to hold it while you work. I bought size 7 and 10 inch. I looked at the 10" and 14" sizes and if you used the 10" side, the 14" side seems too big to fit on your lap. Works perfectly. They recommend using a piece of fabric on a frame that doesn't fit. use to ensure it sits securely on your lap. This is the greatest invention. No fatigue trying to hold the hoop and work. As for the puncher, I don't think you could do it without either of these devices. It is highly recommended for everyone to do any crafts that require you to use the hoop.
