I don't know why it took me so long to find this. I recently remodeled my kitchen and threw away my 20 year old Rubbermaid dryer and rug (actually I threw them away, my husband saved them and put them in the garage thinking I'd use them again. No.) Me used a dryer mat', which is actually nothing more than a thick towel and I was dissatisfied with it because dishes and pots don't dry that quickly. They just lie on a damp towel on my granite all day. So yes, this shelf is a really good idea. Dishes and pots dry quickly because air circulates around them (just like the old Rubbermaid dish dryers). The stand is (appears to be) made of silicone so it doesn't scratch my counter. I have a wide sink that takes up about half, it also gives me some more coveted desk space when I need it and allows me to use (half) the sink. I like the neutral gray. To clean it, I just rub it. Don't think, just order. You might as well throw away your old Rubbermaid Dish Dryer :).
