Review on πŸ”‹ DB Electrical SBS0001 Starter Briggs: Reliable Starting Power for Your Briggs Engine by Michael Vargas

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Cheap and poorly designed

On the other hand, this product is relatively inexpensive considering the number of times I've successfully started the mower with it, the cost per use is in the single digits. On the other hand, the development of this product is complete crap. It is clear that the gear on the starter must be weaker than the teeth on the flywheel itself in order for the starter not to destroy the much more expensive part. But the combination of a flimsy activation spring and a cheap hard plastic starter gear means that if that starter motor tends to be mis-seated, the teeth on the starter gear will become misaligned with the flywheel when it's spinning violently, wearing down the teeth almost immediately. nothing on the starter. Unlike the previous starter which died of a short circuit after eight years of reliable service. I'm really tired of spare parts that are designed to break and need regular replacement, but cost the same as parts that used to be built to last.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Expensive
