Review on Upgrade Your 2018-2019 Hyundai KONA With Lockable MotorFansClub Crossbars For Efficient Luggage Management (2 PCS) by Walt Smirnoff

My new 2019 Kona OEM crossbars were going to run around $300-400 whether at the dealer or aftermarket. So I went looking for an alternative.I kinda wanted a Thule system, but after looking at how complicated it was and the additional parts you had to order and a hefty tag of over $600, I kept looking.After shopping and researching for some time I found these, actually had been some of the first hits from the web and Best Buy. Sounded too good to be true and advertising seemed a bit 'in your face' and questionable at such a low price. I read a fair amount of reviews that said these were sturdy. The Hyundai OEM parts were rated for only 165 lbs (per OEM install guide, not Ebay who says 220) and these are for 220 lbs. They are wider than the OEM which I prefer as I've got a large Thule Cascade XT topper that uses large u-bolts for connection to cross rails.Only thing I'd of preferred is a rubber strip on the bottom so my u-bolts wouldn't scratch up the under side. I aim to add a little wrapping to my u-bolts anyways as I don't like it when they hit the top of my car when I take them off. I believe the OEM one's are coated all the way around, but can't quite remember from seeing at the dealership.What sold me was 1st the low price, 2nd the weight capacity and last, yes the corn ball pick attached. I know how much my pack weighs when fully loaded!When I got them I jumped on them to see. Didn't deflect at all and I'm not light. Pack and all I'd be pushing close to 300 lbs on them.Was a cinch to install, just have to understand there's a right and a left side (airfoil). Actually used the downloadable PDF of the OEM install guide to make sure I placed them appropriately, per Hyundai. Was a good thing to have. I used a cordless wrench with torque adjustment. Sorry, no manual torque wrenches in my tool box.I thought maybe the silver finish would clash with my white car. They look fine and hard to tell from the white.They are a bit thicker, so probably a little noisier at high speeds than the OEM parts which are very thin and probably why the OEM's weight capacity is much lower. The OEM ones felt low quality and flimsy at the dealership on another Kona and were much tighter to the roof which probably wouldn't work with my topper. I was not impressed with them, especially for the price. Would never trust them to hold a bike mount. May wish to take these off if not needed on long trips to reduce drag. Otherwise fine for zipping around town.I've seen a few comments that they don't fit the 2019 Kona. They do, but like anything on your car you have to install them correctly or they won't perform they way you think they should. Everything needs to be aligned, tightened and square, no matter what system you choose.
