The folding racks work great and look great on my car when not in use.

I haven't ridden kayaks in my car yet but I will this weekend. I will have to purchase straps as the straps that come with the racks do not work to securely secure the kayaks as pointed out by another consumer. My son installed them and made it pretty easy. I'm not a very strong person but I can position them easily.

    Cons
    • Vulgarity

Much better quality compared to other cheaper imported items

They are very good quality and well made. I've compared them to some cheaper versions and they're definitely worth a bit more, especially if like me you can find a Revain Warehouse deal. They did a great job keeping our kayaks on an 800 mile trip. I will update if it doesn't work but overall they are very good quality.

    • Long delivery time

Kayak holder best for kayaks, canoes and SUP racks

Bought these for a road trip, I wanted to carry kayaks. First ride, walking down the street, suddenly there's a knock and my kayaks are hanging on the side of my door. Luckily there was a test stop nearby. The brackets are completely broken - not bent or anything, but the aluminum itself is cracked. I bought 2 sets but removed the second one from the rack because I don't trust them. I wrote to the company about the problem and have not received a response to date.

    Cons
    • Some bugs

    Incorrectly assembled

Mine was assembled with a rubber top plate. The picture shows it so I will scratch your crossbars. metal on metal. I converted mine by wrapping the panel in rubber sheeting to avoid damaging the roof rack. You can see the difference in my photo. Left - how they came, right - how I built mine. I mean really, why cover the bottom panel without damaging the roof rack and leaving the top panel uncoated?

    Perfect for garage cars!

I used to have J-Racks that wouldn't fold and I have my car in the garage so I had to reassemble every time I wanted to transport 2 kayaks - these folding kayaks are amazing for standing and park them in the garage after folding them. The only difficulty was that the metal plate that attaches to your car's pillar was on the outside of the rubber protector and had to be refitted and reassembled with the plate in the rubber. Unscrewing and screwing it back on was very difficult. For the rest…

    The purchase was successful

So far I have used these racks to transport two kayaks 2 times. Both times I was happy with the results, which means I didn't lose my kayaks (laughs). The trips were only a few hours from home, but they included freeway driving and high winds. The hardware is a little questionable so I replaced some of the screws and I don't like that only one bar holds up. (one wing nut on each side) of each bracket on the post. Somehow I think they could attach two bars (two wing nuts on each side) but as I…

    • Update availability

I was on a trip where I needed to take 2 kayaks with me so I bought this stand. Keep in mind the 2 kayaks I have are fishing kayaks which weigh about 70lbs each so are much wider and heavier than most. Before installing, I noticed that one of the screws/brackets wasn't tight enough to snap into place. When I looked closely, I found that the bolt and nut had snapped off and would no longer be tightened. I received this rack the day before I left so didn't have time to ask for a spare so instead…

Nice but could look for an easier on/off bracket

Fairly easy to install but still difficult. You use large plastic wing nuts to attach the bracket to your crossbars. A lever unlocking system would be better as there is no security/key lock so thieves can't just unscrew the 4 wing nuts and run away with your expensive J-Bars. Even with the J-bars lying flat, my Tall Tahoe still has trouble going through the garage. Can only hold one side at a time. If I'm towing 2 kayaks I have to pull it out of the garage and assemble it. Again, a lever cam…

    Works as advertised.

Added to Brightlines cross members that I purchased separately and installed on a 2011 Chevy Equinox. I didn't make any changes to them, I added them directly to the bars. Once installed, two separate sets will perform as advertised and will hold two 45lb. Kayaks on a vehicle. However, there are two real problems with these roof bars that the company that makes them can easily fix. First, the tie-down straps provided are completely useless and should NEVER be used to secure even the smallest…
