Added to Brightlines cross members that I purchased separately and installed on a 2011 Chevy Equinox. I didn't make any changes to them, I added them directly to the bars. Once installed, two separate sets will perform as advertised and will hold two 45lb. Kayaks on a vehicle. However, there are two real problems with these roof bars that the company that makes them can easily fix. First, the tie-down straps provided are completely useless and should NEVER be used to secure even the smallest load on the roof of your vehicle. . When the straps go through the buckle, you can easily pull out the strap with your bare hands. The only way to secure something with them is to let go of the buckle and tie a secure knot with them at each end. The second problem is why I can't rate them higher. The screws that attach the posts to the cross members are too long and have bare threads. Once a load is placed on them and secured with the RIGHT tie down straps, the weight presses down on them and the bolts push the paint onto the bare metal. Either shorter screws or manufacturer-supplied vinyl caps that attach to the ends prevent this.
