i seem to get new steak knives almost every year because they either stain or wear down and i do sharpen them.compared to my last set, these knives are like the cadillac compared to my volkswagon !they are beautiful and sturdy. they feel GREAT in my hand and have a nice weight to them. i feel if your knife is not weighty, it's cheap and dangerous. that's just my opinion. We had steak and shrimp last night and we used these knives and even my hubby was impressed. they but right through the steak with no effort. My daugher likes her steak really well done (a crime i tell ya ) but her steak is always tough but she had NO problem cutting it. These are very unique at least to what i'm used to and owned. they're bigger then any steak knife i've owned. it's just an impressive thing to have a nice big steak knife on the table. These are worth the money. I was in a high end department store before xmas and saw steak knives for over 200.00 and i swear they looked like this set. very very nice knives and i'm thinking what a great gift for a shower or new house owner as my one daughter is. for xmas i bought her a bunch of quality baking things and silverware. I think i will get a set of these for her birthday in March. She is deathly afraid of knives but i told her the most dangerous tool in the kitchen is a dull knife. i'm trying to teach her about quality things and safety so i'm pretty sure she will get a set of these.plus she has no steak knives and i've seen her but her meat with a butter knife,.that was dull. great product, great look and great feel in your hand.
