Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Improved Ignition Performance: PerTronix 1548 Ignitor for Prestolite 4 Cylinder Engines by Luis Thompson

Superb American made Autolite IAY 4401 (formerly CJ5 Jeep) distributor electronic ignition

Bought for my 1960 Willys CJ5 Jeep. It has an Autolite IAY 4401 distributor (no vacuum advance) on the original F-134 -Engine. What you see in the photo is what you get. Remove the lid and rotor, then loosen the two side screws that secure the lid latches and the inner plate that holds the tips and condenser. Pull out the original plate. You then simply insert this plate and thread the wires through the side hole and attach the red + and negative wires directly to the coil (if you have an internally adjustable coil). Press the supplied ring and reinstall the rotor and cover. Run it again and let it warm up, then adjust the time to make sure you're ready to go. It takes about 15 minutes in total. In the event of a malfunction or error, you can reset the reference points/capacitor plate just as quickly at any time. This update gave me a VERY noticeable boost at high frequencies. It runs and runs very smoothly and now has a lot more oomph which is always welcome in an old underpowered F-134! I love the fact that you keep your original distributor and hide new technology in it. This is the second car I've installed a PerTronix ignition in and I've had no problems - only positive results. Made in the USA!
