I originally bought the Large after looking at the measuring instructions on the website which were actually useless. Swapped for medium and they fit perfectly. I bought them for snowshoeing, mountain bird hunting, light mountaineering and hiking muddy trails. They protect your boots incredibly well from rocks, sand and snow. I've punched holes up to my thigh multiple times and have never been able to get snow in my leggings. They work very well and don't seem to leak or overheat. Adjusting the bottom buckle took me a while to figure out I needed to tighten it. The lace holder keeps the gaiters on the boots well. The top strap is a bit odd. At first it seemed that the strap is not that strong and doesn't tighten very well. Once I pulled it through the material it tightened really well. Ideally they would replace the flat nylon calf strap with something with some elasticity so it can move and flex with you when tightened rather than being quite stiff around your calf, but that's the only improvement I could make. .For the price this gaiter is hard to beat, I wasn't sure I wanted to fully jump into Goretex gaiters and I wanted more waterproofing than the lowest price OR version. These are just what I needed and I think they will last me for quite a while.
