I love this light. full disclosure I didn't buy it to read. I just like to see. I hike a lot and next time I will take this light with me. So firstly no batteries, instead you get a USB charging cable, which is my preference, less waste, less cost. Second, the clip is big, but in a good way. it can stick to almost anything, which was a huge plus for me, but I think if you read Bleak House you'll have no problem getting it there. Third, with multiple LED bulbs, the light can be bright. but this is optional. With a very handy touchpad on the clamp, you can set it up in three settings. four if turn off. Fourth, the neck is quite long, longer than most book lamps, so you can really adjust it to any angle. There is a minus, but it's not so bad. The touchpad is super sensitive. You'll accidentally hit it every time you grab a clip, but like I said, it doesn't matter. It's not a loaded gun, it's a light gun, you'll be fine. If you're looking for good light, this is a great option for reading or just having light exactly where you need it. I'm going to mount mine on my bedside table so I can have some glare free light when I need to move around at night and get up or just look around.
