This is a good example of a website that is designed to meet the needs of the business, but not necessarily the needs of the customer.
I would have given this one a thumbs down if I could, but unfortunately, I was forced to give it two thumbs up. The fact that it's been created for us by our marketing team is great. The design is very nice, but I am finding that the amount of time required to put together a complete site is prohibitive. Our team members aren't able to devote the necessary time to create a website that is both functional and visually pleasing, and we don't want to sacrifice any of the time spent developing our brand. In addition, our team members are not trained to use HTML/CSS and we would prefer to train them, but that would require more time than we have.
Pros
- The design is very nice, but I am finding that the amount of time required to put together a complete site is prohibitive.
- The fact that it's free and requires little or no training to operate it means that we can spend less money to market our product and still make sure that our brand is communicated effectively.
Cons
- The web page builder requires a high level of technical skill to operate.
- We need to train the staff who will be using the website so that they can produce content for the site that is consistent with the rest of our branding.
