The volume knob is great, I love that it has a headphone jack on the knob. Unfortunately, the volume control does not make up for the shortcomings. The port that the satellites are plugged into is very moody at best, one of which almost never works. The input has to be less than 100% in the jack for the 2nd satellite to actually activate and sometimes it's very difficult to hit the sweet spot. So often you only hear one side of the mix. The subwoofer is great, in fact it's 100 times bigger than what I need. I turn the volume up just a little because it's too big and too loud compared to the high frequencies (especially when one of them doesn't even work). Sometimes I turn the volume up to maximum and it's barely audible. I have to unplug it and when I turn it back on it's louder. It's very annoying when I accidentally reach down and have to start messing with my extension cord. I bought it because the sound quality of my old boxes sucked and had almost no bass. The compromise was dubious.;; Edit 2020-08-2618 months old and it looks like the subwoofer is dying or something, it just starts turning off and on randomly. Although the subwoofer has never really been moved and almost never touched, the volume control on the back of the subwoofer appears to be loose. I suspect it could be a weak internal connection, but how that could have happened is beyond me. Rating downgraded from 2 to 1 star.
