Review on FLOOD PPG FLD6 04 Floetrol Additive by Doug Powell

I have been using this product for years and don't want to be without it. I use it with latex paint when painting artificial surfaces like wood or marble textures etc, when painting furniture or when painting walls with heavy flowing paint. I use it with acrylic paint for art painting and wall murals. It increases open time (extends drying time) and allows your paint to flow for smooth application, prevents brush and roller marks, and allows latex paint to self-level like an oil base. It does not alter the quality, color or opacity of the paint. You can apply it directly to the surface to be painted or mix it with paint. This actually stretches the color so it goes further. After so many years of use, I don't follow the mixing instructions. I have a good sense of how much to use based on what I'm working on and what I'm looking for. The more you add to the paint, the slower the paint dries and the longer you have to work with it. It is white in color like Elmer's glue, but becomes transparent after drying. As long as the lid is tightly closed, it will look like new even after it has been on the shelf for a long time. I've had open (and well sealed) bottles that have been sitting for several years and never got thick or lumpy, they never changed. I don't know what to do with reviewers who have issues with it being lumpy, clunky, or stringy. I never had. Just make sure to shake well before each use. If it sits for a long time, it will become transparent, but will return to its normal white color if you shake it. And shake well! This is a great product and I recommend it to anyone doing any water based paint projects.
