Plumbing in the house. After buying a cheap plastic one that broke on first use I tracked this one down. Since we were locksmiths, the job always bought us this type of metal. I didn't expect cheap plastic to be so thin on cheap. The metal handle is great for deburring ID holes and gliding straight cuts with edge burrs. Easy to use. We call them twisted spikes, which is a more appropriate name. Typically used for aluminum or brass. Obviously a harder metal will wear down the blade quicker but it will still work.
