Review on 1Zpresso JX-Pro S Manual Coffee Grinder: Portable, Efficient, And Adjustable For Perfect Coffee Every Time! by Adam Boudreau

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A very good hand grinder

I upgraded from Hario Mini-Slim (v1) to this, but it's so good I'll probably also replace my Gaggia MDF with it.Pros:- full-aluminum body, which makes it a bit heavy- burr profile ensures extremely fast and very consistent grind- bearings are buttery smooth, keeping shaft very stable and grinding experience smooth- very fine grind adjustmentCons:- kinda heavy, which is expected of full-aluminum construction- putting coffee beans in is a bit of a hassle- suggested grind settings are way too fine (I'm mainly brewing Aeropress for now, using 30-36 settings)- it will absolutely destroy your coffee experience at first- minor complaint: lid construction makes it a bit scary to travel withSuggestions:- get a scale (+$15-50)- get a dosing container- get an air blower for cleaning (+$5-10)- get a pot with a thermometer or a thermostat ($100)This is a very good grinder, to a fault: I wasn't prepared for it and it destroyed my coffee brewing experience at first, it took me a couple of days to adjust it to "drinkable" and I'm still in the process of making my coffee better than before, but I'm getting there.Grind adjustment is very fine: manufacturer claims that one full rotation is 0.5mm. You get 40 clicks per rotation (10 numbered settings with 3 clicks in between each), making it 0.0125mm adjustment per click. The only downside is you will have to re-dial all of your grind settings due to how fine of a control you have now and how consistent the grind is.Grinding experience is superb: bearings used ensure very smooth turning, and grinder construction ensures superb shaft stability. Burrs chew through beans thanks to their profile, but keep the grind very consistent. One of my first attempts to grind for espresso was an extremely fine setting, and all I felt was some resistance and regular clicks, what I got out of it was a powder suitable only for Turkish coffee.Overall? If you're willing to spend $160 on a grinder - this is very well worth the price.
