I was debating across several different electric grinder models, but seems like you have to spend a fortune to get something that doesn't sound like a jet engine. Also, the more expensive grinders seem to be centered around espresso, which I'm not interested in. I do Aeropress and the occasional French press, but honestly have really grown to dislike French press due to the sediment.Ultimately I decided on this grinder based on the really positive reviews, and the fact that I'm the only coffee drinker in the house. I don't need an expensive electric grinder for just one person. It's really high quality, all metal except for the clear disk and wood knob on the grinder handle.I haven't disassembled it for cleaning, and like another reviewer, unless it becomes an issue I probably won't. I've been using it twice daily for a couple weeks now, and I've shined a flashlight inside and see hardly any grinds in there. I have used the brush to clean off the bottom of the grinder and the inside of the catch cup, and tap it with my hands to dislodge any loose stuff, that's it.For Aeropress I followed the guide and started with 24, and that works great for me, although it is a fairly fine grind, almost powdery. I might experiment with the grind size a bit, but that setting seems to produce a great cup of Aeropress coffee. It takes about 75 handle rotations to grind 17g of beans with the grinder set to 24, about 1 minute. I've found that the faster you grind, the more rotations it takes. So it seems better to not go too fast.I've also ground for French press a couple times, and have found it to produce an inconsistent grind at the coarser settings. (46 - 50), contrary to the other reviews. Quite a bit of fine grinds mixed in with the otherwise great French press-sized grinds. Then again, I've never seen a grinder that's able to produce a consistent grind at the coarser settings, so there might be no escaping the fines at any price point. Also, there was no grind guide included that some reviewers mention. Mine came with a card that has a QR code you scan, which links you to the online version of the manual. From there I had to browse through the website and eventually found the grind guide buried in their blog section of all places. It would be nice to have a hard-copy of the grind guide included.Another annoyance: The catch cup tends to accumulate finer grinds inside, likely due to the metal's texture and the 90 degree angle of the bottom. From an engineering standpoint, it would probably be better if the cup was made out of smooth glass with rounded edges.Despite these issues, highly recommended!
