Over the past 10 years we have purchased several of these carpet protectors to cover steps from the kitchen to the living room. We have 3 feral little dogs and as we are in our 65s we need to make sure the flooring is safe. This stuff was a blessing. We use Dritz Home 44009 2-1/2" Upholstery Pins (30 pack) to secure the sides and a pin in the center of the back of each step to make sure it doesn't move. I believe that on regular Adult use no pens needed Worn bits from many trips to the washing machine we keep for use on the raw wood floor in front of the tailgate These old pieces are great for covering freshly washed carpets until they dry The only problem we was that dark shoes like Crocs tend to leave the bottom in the mud at the edge of the steps which becomes difficult to wash off over time.
