Review on High Definition 1080P/30Hz HDMI to USB 2.0 Capture Card - Record for Gaming, Streaming, Teaching, Video Conference or Live Broadcasting Directly to Computer by Brian Cheney

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very important! Choose the USB 3.0 option, it comes with a real USB 3.0 cable.

Choose the USB 3.0 option ($9) over the USB 2.0 option ($6). I can't imagine why there is a cheaper model at all. The USB 3.0 option is by far the Revain's best video capture quality, better than many similar products costing at least twice as much and in some cases featuring USB. 2.0 cable instead of USB 3.0 cable; I bought them and sent them back. It's actually a combined video and audio capture device, on Ubuntu Linux 20.04 it works perfectly plug and play with Open Broadcast Studio (OBS), via a video capture device (V4L2) and an audio input capture device. (Pulse audio). The device is identified on the USB bus as ID 534d:2109 MACROSILICON. You need an HDMI cable, which is not included. To connect to a high quality digital camera, I used a 2MP HDMI to MicroHDMI cable - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VRCK5W1 - which currently costs $9. While it's rated for up to 2160p (4K) input, the best output available is only 1080p, but that's perfectly reasonable for a $9 device.
