Bought a size up for my 15lb 7 year old Rat Terrier mix who has little to no hair on the underside of his body. I was specifically looking for something that would warm her chest and stomach because she's practically hairless underneath. This jacket does its job well. It's amazingly good quality. Thick, soft, and hairy underneath, but rough and rough on top (which is good, my OCD-playing pup isn't exactly a spoiled dog). The only complaint I have is that it doesn't seem long enough for her. The neckline is a little off and the back doesn't seem to go far enough as if I chose the wrong size. She has long legs and body, maybe her awkward height is the reason for the awkward fit? But I thought the big one would be better. Either way, it's still warm, easy to turn on and off, and good enough to get the job done. So overall I'm happy and would buy again, albeit a little larger or for a smaller dog.
