I'm a hardgainer and have dietary restrictions so this product seemed like the perfect mix, albeit not expensive. I have extra money, why not? Well, it's not that easy to drink it and get over 1000 calories. I used to take pea protein and rice protein products with no problems. The main differentiator of this product is the insane amount of tapioca maltodextrin included to boost the calorie count. I didn't know that, but maltodextrins are not all the same. Namely, you're getting a maltodextrin that the body can digest, and you're getting a kind that the body can't digest (digestion-resistant maltodextrin, or DRM). Additionally, maltodextrin may simply be harder to digest for some people. What does it all mean? Well the reality is you can consume this powder but not get anywhere near the energy stated on the label. When I ingested the powder, I bloated like someone had opened a can of carbon dioxide in my stomach. I lost all appetite and spent the next 4-5 hours belching. I once used 2 scoops as a breakfast shake so I could go to the nearest restaurant to eat. When I got there I was unable to eat due to nausea/bloating. I was sick for almost 4 hours. This is my experience with this product. It may well be that your body can handle the intense maltodextrin levels and I can't. Perhaps tapioca maltodextrin is an inherently difficult-to-digest carbohydrate. All I know is that this is no easy shock. Too bad because I like the naked model. Pure and minimal ingredients. I hope you can rephrase it. Their price naturally requires more fine-tuning of the product.
