Review on πŸ”„ WCP85 HVAC Condensate Water Transfer Pump by Wayne by Jarrett Love

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice brushless motor

I've replaced several different models over the years and this design has merit. The rotor is permanent magnet, its drive windings are fully thermoplastic potted. There aren't any Brushes that can wear out and as long as the motor stays submerged in water (most motors rely on air cooling) I don't see it burning through which requires frequent replacement.Mine recently did after six years of multiple daily cycles stopped working. After a thorough operation I found that the contacts on the float switch were dirty and with a little grinding it works like new.I also adjusted the float position so that the duty cycle removed more water from the tank and the number of cycles halved per day My HVAC systems draw ze Lots of water and the factory float setting doubles the cycles I use now. I estimate that most of them can easily last 10 years from this unit and not see the engine fail without some bad conditions. On the other hand, it makes some noise. Motor rotor is free, great for durability but not for noise. Every time the engine is started you will hear a crackling sound as the rotor starts spinning and rattling during pumping. Other models are quieter, but cheap engines in them are junk.

Pros
  • 3/8" pressure hose fitting with built in check valve
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
