Review on 🎙️ Procaster Dynamic Vocal Microphone - Perfect for Broadcasting by Carl Henderson

I've been using an Audio Technica AT2020 condenser mic for quite some time. Although this is a very good microphone, it is very sensitive to background noise. I needed a dynamic microphone that would pick up my voice with very little or possibly no background noise. I've been reading about the Procaster and thought it might be the right mic for me even though it's a mic that's been around for quite some time. And it was! First impression, the microphone is built like a truck. Solid metal body, nice grills on the top, and while I have no experience with high quality or expensive studio mics, I just knew the Procaster would meet my expectations based on the build. Not only is it solidly built, but it also carries quite a bit of weight. It weighs 1.5 to 1.7 pounds so my cheap barbell won't take it. I've read that to use it with a mic it needs a cloud lift or some sort of preamp, which is sort of true. The input or sound is very quiet. I didn't need it though as the mixer had more than enough preamp capacity to provide adequate gain for the mic. If you have a mixer with a good preamp, you don't need to spend extra money on an extra preamp. The Procaster is exactly what I needed. It captures my voice (which is deeper) very well. In particular, it doesn't pick up much of the background noise my AT2020 makes. Ideal! I just had to get used to keeping my mouth close to the mic to keep the audio. It comes with a built in pop filter which I can confirm works great. I could have used the foam pop filter I had on hand, but the mic looks sexy without it. It doesn't need phantom power as it's a dynamic mic! The microphone came in a nice leather case with an adapter and some papers in the box. I was very happy to see that I can register and get a 10 year guarantee on the microphone. ten years! That tells me that RODE has confidence in its products. Overall quality, performance and price are excellent in every way! Whenever I need additional equipment, RODE is first in line for my company!
