Works great broken.
I love these things but I broke mine the first time I used them. Unless you have animal power, I doubt that will happen to you. Just be sure to open the lid before attempting to expand the sides. If you don't, try fighting the vacuum force of a closed container and let's just say it's an uphill battle. Although I broke it the first time I used it I haven't had any issues since and it works great even with a broken part. Remember that form is more important than strength!
