Replacing brake lines can eliminate overheating of the brakes. Most people blame the calipers for sticking and overheating brakes. If your car has over 100,000 miles or is ten years old, old brake lines can become loose inside and act as a hydraulic accumulator, creating unwanted pressure in the brake cylinders even after the brake pedal is released. Adjusting the depth of the brake booster rod in the master cylinder is another overlooked root cause of overheating brakes (resulting in pitted and recessed rotors that shake and vibrate when the pedal is pressed). Worked on my 2000 F150.
