Review on 🎡 TDK 20100 - TDK Standard Size Audio Cassette: Classic Quality for Enhanced Audio Experience by Draven Invert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm fine -- with two minor disappointments

TDK makes excellent 90 minute tapes for general purpose recording. If you have the right equipment, these cassettes will record audio from albums, radio shows, CD-Rs, talks and more. These tapes have 90 minutes of blank tape for recording, so there are 45 minutes of blank on each side. The properties of this tape make it suitable for recording lectures and music with commercially available, less expensive home stereo systems. Tape playback works well on any basic cassette deck, including those in a car. Also, with cassettes you can enjoy hours of listening pleasure as you can record over and over again; and they take up very little space, making them easy to carry. Unfortunately, these tapes cannot offer the same playback quality as a digital copy. This means that hypothetically, if you were to copy a CD-R onto another CD-R rather than onto a TDK cassette, the sound quality on the CD-R copy would be sharper and cleaner with less background noise than on a TDK. Cassette or any other brand of cassettes you can give. TDK makes higher quality cartridges including SA; and these are very good cassettes for recording music. However, this is not the same as a digitized recording on a CD-R or CD-RW. In addition, cartridges can break if not handled with care. They can also break if used too often. Therefore, I recommend copying important recorded material to another blank tape and then keeping that second tape in a safe place to use as a backup. These shortcomings frustrate me and as such I have to deduct a star to make this a 4 star rating. The sides of each cassette have small pieces of plastic that you can easily cut out, making it impossible to accidentally overwrite an existing recording. If you want to overwrite the original recording, you can simply put a small amount of tape over the hole. The cassette is now ready for a new recording. All in all, if you need reliable cassette tapes for recording music, radio, talk or anything else you want to record, the TDK is a solid choice. I've been using this brand for decades and can't think of any major complaints. I highly recommend regular 90 minute offset TDK cassettes so you can use them if you need to get something on tape.
