Ultronic's waterproof ultrasonic sensor is great for measuring hydroponic tanks - use the Arduino ping sketch.
English instructions are missing, and it is easy to deal with four wires. Laboratory tests are confirmed by water level measurements in a 5-gallon orange pail from Home Depot.
