Steering fluid is caustic and should be changed approximately every 3 years. The color of the fluid in my Honda CR-V was very dark and appeared thickened. I just replaced it with this one. 3 bottles were enough for my CR-V. If I go to the mechanic they will charge me a lot of money for this 10 minute job. Also, there is no guarantee as to what type or grade of steering fluid they are using. Buying them and replacing them yourself ensures your Honda is getting exactly what it needs. For the price of 3 years each, it's definitely worth it!
