I've been buying these replacement Magic Blue bags from Revain for years as Sears long ago stopped making Kenmore bags. In fact, compared to the Kemore brand, Revain is cheaper and they claim to filter dust. I thought this would extend the life and utility of my favorite Magic Blue vacuum cleaner (12 years old and it's still working!). I take very good care of my little Magic Blue and clean its parts, hoses, brushes and filters thoroughly from the usual build up and I change the bags before they overflow and it's still as strong as day one. But only recently have I discovered that the claim that these bags are "microfilters" is not true. See, I sprinkled some borax pellets on my hardwood floor because I had moths—two days later, while vacuuming the hardwood floor, I thought I could taste borax on my lips. I opened the vacuum bag compartment and found that the borax pellets had penetrated the interior of the compartment as well as the walls of the vacuum motor and were stuck to the washable filter! If those bags were really microfiltration paper, I doubt the large borax grains would have spread outside of the bags and into the air! microfiltration. Don't know more about it? What should I do now?!
