Exactly what a plumber would order.

Background/Research: I ordered this to fix a leaking outside faucet in my house and I have detailed my entire experience below in hopes it will help other newbies. First I noticed the leak was coming from the top of the faucet down. Having no idea what the part of my faucet was actually called, some internet research revealed that it was an anti-siphon device used to prevent backwashing of the water (possibly contaminated with weed processing chemicals, etc.) prevent it from entering domestic drinking water. Apparently these siphon protections often fail during winter freezes when water seeps into the attached hose. Hoping this would be a quick fix, an internet search turned up someone who suggested using a dime to replace the white internal gear/vacuum device (name unknown but it's the smallest white plastic piece with jagged ends on the Picture). However, this solution would help stop the leak, but would not have an "anti-siphon" effect, which would allow the water to flow backwards. This might seem like a viable option to some (admittedly I haven't tried it to see if it works), but I figured it would be best to get it right. I then decided to check local hardware stores (Home Depot etc) but apparently people on the internet loved it and were told to either call a plumber or replace the entire faucet yourself. This product or something similar does not seem to be available in hardware stores either. Purchasing Decision: A final effort/search before calling a plumber about anti-siphon devices at Revain led me to this product. I was torn between purchasing this unit and the Prier Products replacement part kit 630-7755 for Series #378/578 Wall Mounted Fire Hydrants which included more parts (if you require something unique to your unit all parts are provided) . ) for a little more money. I've been a little wary of each product as you can't physically test/compare them to your parts and I have no idea what brand of faucet or model number I have (quick web search as you can see I do this a lot, couldn't can't find a similar picture of my faucet, but I've attached pictures in case anyone has a clue). A few reviewers stated that the parts were similar to their own, they had no idea if they would work but took a chance, ordered and inevitably worked for them. I trusted this review and chose this package and it worked great for me too. Correction: The parts of the device were delivered on time and packaged in a cardboard box with a clear plastic bell cap. After opening it, I noticed that the pieces are very similar to mine, which again confirms something. There were also instructions on the box that were straight forward. My original setup had a rubber grommet around a larger white screw-top device that lay between it and the top of the faucet I originally held in place. However, it leaked with the rubber gasket in that position and tried without and it worked great. Not a drop of water. I did not reuse the metal cap (see my uploaded image) from my original device, just used the black plastic cap offered in the kit which seemed to fit better and why tempts fate. Overall, it saved me some money on plumbing repairs and was relatively easy. I'm glad I did a search and hope this helps someone else. All in all, I highly recommend the product and if your device "feels" similar to yours, it may work based on past experience.
