I've been on the phone all day at work, 7.5 to 8 hours, and have wanted a wireless headset for a long time. A colleague of mine has been using the Savi W440 version of this product for 5 years and she loves it. I chose Plantronics based on their satisfaction with it and its longevity. I chose this one because it comes with a second battery that you can swap out during a call if needed. I've been considering a Savi W745 with a spare battery, but since we use Avaya Softphone System at work, there isn't a handset on my desk to tether it to, I don't need any kind of hoist and I just don't want it To connect it to my phone at work, I chose this one instead. To set it up, I first plugged a USB into one of my computer's USB ports, it downloaded the necessary software onto my computer without me having to do anything. . Then I opened my Avaya, went into advanced settings and replaced the speaker and microphone with a Plantronics device, closed and reopened Avaya and that was it. There is a small slide switch on the back of the battery to turn it on and off and then I have to press the side button on the headset to start calls. I test it by selecting the voicemail system we must have to make sure I can hear when a call comes in. It says to charge it for at least 3 hours before use, but I set it up and let it charge for a full 24 hours. first use. I leave it charging during breaks and lunch and of course leave it charging overnight. I had no problem running a battery drain during an 8 hour shift. To make sure the batteries don't wear out from idleness or overuse, I simply change two batteries every week. My girlfriend has told me that she bought a new battery for about 12-18 months, only time will tell how often I have to replace mine. At first I was concerned about the purity of the call as I only had one speaker in one ear, but I hear very surprisingly well with this one. This has the odd effect that I feel like I can hear callers in both ears when it's only on one side, and I found I had to turn the volume down to keep it from blowing in my ear. I ended up using a simple earhook (as shown in the main picture) and an earpiece but I had to move it to my left ear, my right ear was too sensitive to noise and I got a blister in my right ear I used it there, while I had absolutely no problems using it on my left ear. Oddly, my friend also said she had the same adjustment period when she first got hers. I like that it gives me freedom of movement instead of feeling like a dog on a leash. The range is amazing. Our office is very large and I never lose connection or call quality when I have to walk around a bit. I've seen other people run to the break room (aka "1000 yard run") or even the bathroom and never lose a call, but that's too much for me. Also, I don't want to be the person who sits on the toilet and takes calls. (ewww) And while I hate to admit my vanity, I love that it doesn't give me the "headset haircut" I've always hated. All in all I love it. It works exactly as expected and desired, and I feel much more comfortable and relaxed at work. I recommend it to anyone who needs a wireless headset for making calls.
