The shoelaces installed relatively easily, like regular shoelaces. I made the mistake of installing them, then putting on my shoes. The laces were tight. Here's a tip: have the shies on you feet as you lace them up. It may be a bit awkward but you can adjust the tightness for comfort. I didn't care for the p art of heating the cut ends to seal them but it prevents fraying. If you heat them too much the end may melt I. Such a way as to prevent the end from being snapped into place.
