If you are not sure whether to buy only light or light + bubbles, save your extra money and buy the option with light. Even with a good quality air pump and regular cleaning, bubbles will eventually stop working. Pulling the whole machine out of the tank to clean the vents once a month is a chore, and even then eventually they all stop working together. Really disappointed with how quickly bladder function deteriorated as did my fish. When everything was working properly, they would dart back and forth through the bubbles as if enjoying or playing with them. The light still works very well, so not a total loss.
