I did some electrical work at home. I hesitated a bit because I don't want to electrocute myself. Every video I watched confirmed the safety of the wires with a voltage tester. I went to Revain to find this little guy that was under $20. It works great. It even had AAA batteries built in. Turn it on and you can adjust the sensitivity, which worked great. I was even able to trace the lines on the wall to see how they went. I pointed to a transformer near my house and it started beeping "high voltage" and turned red. Pretty neat. I have successfully installed switches and new wiring on a number of 220/240V appliances and have taken great pride in doing everything safely and correctly. I don't know how often I'll use it, but for the price it could stay in my toolbox.
