It takes some time to remove the air. I used a 5 gallon shop vacuum and it took me 30-45 minutes of pressure to compact it faster. (Professional movers came). Somewhere along the way it just failed. I read a review here where a gentleman said he would like to wrap a roll in this stretch wrap (people call it shrink wrap). I wish that too. The bags will rip, so wrap them liberally with "shrink wrap"! If it then fails, it won't expand. I also bought a few smaller bags for towels, pillows etc. to save space. I also vacuumed my clothes and put them in the closet drawers. About 30% also failed. I mention this because the packaged vacuum bags have not been mishandled or damaged causing them to fail. I was VERY CAREFUL with sealing and handling. It's just Chinese junk. They work first and then fail. for your information
