Due to a worn ignition cylinder, I was able to remove the key from my Durango in any position. I also suspected that the old cylinder could be generating power consumption and killing my battery. This lock cylinder was very easy to install following the video instruction on the product page. The job took 20 minutes from start to finish, the hardest part was removing the steering column cover. The ignition cylinder works as it should and I can no longer remove the key in all positions. Time will tell if this was actually the cause of my power consumption. Edited to add: After a week on a new cylinder the car starts straight away so I genuinely believe this was the root of my power leak problem. I must also say that I used my spare key to code the cylinder. I did this because my regular key was significantly more worn than the spare key and I figured I would just get a copy of the spare key if the worn key didn't work after installing it. I am pleased to report that both keys work as they should with this new cylinder.
